I have been going to Savannah, GA since I was in girl scouts... in other words it's been about 16 years of occasional trips to this beautiful city. Here is a huge list of all things Savannah like things to do, places to see, where to eat, and even some outfit inspo. I love the scenery of this city, and it has some very tragic and ironic history as well. If you can, I definitely suggest taking a tour of the city whether it be guided or on one of their trolleys.
The weather stays pretty warm here even in the winter. If you are visiting during the spring or summer, be prepared for heat and humidity! The winter stays around the 50-60s, which means jeans and a light cardigan. If you are looking for a new years/winter trip, check out this post from January 2020 on Savannah!
Places I've Stayed:
- AirBnb - Guest house under 10 minute drive to downtown, parking available on nearby streets
- AirBnb - Bottom of a townhouse, super nice and has onsite parking; 10-15 minute walk to downtown
- Hyatt Regency - On River street, very nice lobby and location. Valet parking $40/night included in bill
Things to Do:
- Tours - There are plenty of good options, use trip adviser! Might I suggest a ghost tour, too?
- Shopping on Broughton - There are big name stores as well as smaller local shops. Check otu Avalon exchange if you like consignment!
- Tybee Island - Definitely a day trip
- Cooking classes - Classes by Kessler was a great experience
- Local Breweries/Distilleries - Moon River Brewing, Hop Atomica, New Realm, and more
- River Street - kitschy souvenirs, pralines, and salt water taffy (don't eat on this strip if you want good food)
- Savannah Bee Company - for mead tasting and friendly staff
- Wormsloe - beautiful property filled with history
- Bar hopping - There are a lot of bars downtown and Savannah is open container!
Restaurants
the low down: Recommended to us by a local, their beers are SO good. We had the fig & pig pizza and the pretzel and they were perfect compliments to the beer. You can build your own flight of 5 beers for $20.
the low down: Tapas bar that also has live music. Most people are seated to face the singer and the setting is dark and the food is yummy! If they have the grouper cheeks....GET THEM. We ordered 4 tapas and were full.
the low down: super yummy biscuits that you can customize. Order online or at the counter for a quick bite. Try their pimento cheese!!
Ray's Pizza
the low down: If you want something quick and open late, their pizza is pretty good!
the low down: Great iced coffee, bougie waters, and other drinks. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE CROISSANTS. If you love yourself at all, you have to get their ham and cheese croissant. It is so good. They also have delish macrons which you can get a box of 6 for $15. Makes for a cute little gift or mid day pick me up.
This place also serves alcohol and has the cutest French inspired home décor and knick knacks.
the low down: YUMMY tuna tartar, fair priced sushi, great drinks, and a cute atmosphere.
Both times I've been, they have not been overly busy, either!
the low down: I've only been to their rooftop and gotten two apps: the honey fries and their guacamole. The fries you have to get! The guacamole is fine, nothing special! They have yummy drinks and everything is fair priced. The view and ambiance is what you go there for, though!
the low down: this place is the sh*t. They have bomb corned beef hash and you can't really go wrong with other menu items. They are almost always busy, try to sit first, come first served outside!
the low down: Such good food! This place might be hard to find because it is below Broughton! Exposed brick and large bar environment.
